With little less than a week to go, looking back at the sights and experiences we've had is rather emotional!! We will miss this place... and we will miss all our new friends.

One thing we won't be sad to leave behind however is this...

Redang - A weekend in paradise

Heres some photos of the breathtaking island of Redang we visited last weekend .

Its about an eight hour trip reast of KL. We spent our time snorkelling with tropical fishies, getting a tan, swimming , sharing a beer, and chilling out with our new mate Simon. We hired an underwater camera to get some funky snaps...... and also to make you guys very jealous. Ha!

Food

Eating in Malaysia is a massive thing, Everywhere we go theres cafe's or "Mamak stores". Here people will eat and socialise through the day and night. Malaysia is a very multi-cultural society made up of Malays, Chinese and indians so food largely consists of noodles, rice and spice.
A highly malaysian custom is to drink Teh Tarik (or pulled tea) Locals pour the tea from great heights to make it frothy and bloody lovely!! it's also to show off.

I think I'ts fair to say were all learning a lot about the world and ourselves

on this trip. The world is bigger than Britain and some of the people we're meeting

out here are just fantastic. Malaysians are lovely people. They very often appear shy on the outside but once you get to know them there's some real gems. Simon, Jessy, Jon, May Reen, Suree, Mr. Yuen (our lecturer) and Jas Lyn are to name a few. People I think we all wish to stay in touch with for a long, long time.

This world is made of people.

Malacca

Malacca is about two hours south of KL. We spent the weekend there in very nice three star hotel. Why not? at 15 quid a night you cant go wrong. The place is very calm and relaxed. We made some good friends there, sat through a thunderstorm and got burnt to hell in the rooftop jucuzzi. There are also these traditional local taxi drivers who give lifts in their bizzare and extravagent cycles, each one more ridiculous than the next. Even more ridiculous is that they carry stereos on the bikes too, this guy was pumping out some very heavy Hard House. Madness.

Genting Highlands

6,000 feet up in the malaysian hills and about an hour north of KL,

The views from the top were absolutely stunning, The Genting Highlands also

boast a Theme park at the top, which we, of course, fully took advantage of.

(apart from the Gaz's who were too big to go on most of the rides).

Consisting of Chocolate ice cream, pink slush.... green slime... kidney beans... and sweetcorn.
There was more obscure things mixed into it which none of us could make out. When it was brought to the table Fran thought he had made the best decision of the group... until he found out what was actually in it...

... He didn't finish it.

Here is some of the first sites we saw shortly after landing. KL is a massive melting pot of eastern culture. A mixture of Malay, Indian and Chinese (and others). You can see the influences here.

Our Marathon Journey

Well, first post of the blog. Thought the start would be a good place to begin. Here's the journey in picture form - Cardiff to Heathrow, Heathrow to Doha, Doha to Kuala Lumpur. Say it quick and it doesn't sound much however it's a 21 hour journey... thank god for duty free.
